About Beercrunchers 2.0:
While working for the largest beer distribution company in the country, I set out to create a new career path for myself. I began in 2013 by creating the Instagram account @beeraficionado. After 2+ years of studying brewery, retailer, and enthusiast behavior on Instagram, I created beercrunchers.com in hopes of building a database that linked all breweries in the country to their Brewers Association reported data, social media data, and eventually other sources that would update regularly via APIs. The process was clunky to say the least, but lead to some interesting discoveries and analysis, which I wrote about in what I'm leaving on the page as Blog 1.0.
Before I could get past mapping out my two favorite states, Illinois and California, an opportunity to become Revolution Brewing's CFO came about, that eventually lead to overseeing Communications as well. While it wasn't my exact intention, I had slowly pieced together all of the things that I Ioved and turned them into a job. Beer Crunchers was put on ice while I poured my heart into that job, which I still do today. I've learned a lot and ready to both share and dive back into some topics with other industry friends who I respect and admire. Here comes Version 2.0
Original 1.0 Mission:
All 4,000+ US craft breweries operating in 2015 are physically connected, whether by highway, local street, or even dirt road. If you have the time, you can get anywhere you want. Unfortunately, the key data points which fuel each of these businesses remain unconnected: Location, Capacity, Production, Distribution, Territory, Social Media, Sales, Ratings, etc. Connecting these data points would provide fascinating insights and the tools to make better, more informed decisions. This may seem impossible, but it's the journey, not the destination. Beer Crunchers will tell the stories and share opinions generated from this mission to connect the dots of the US craft beer industry. Cheers!
